The Senior Manager of Accounts Payable is responsible for the daily oversight of the Accounts Payable function, ensuring accurate and timely processing of all payables, while managing vendor payment relationships and optimizing processes. This role will drive efficiency in managing the payables cycle, cash flow, and working capital optimization. The Senior Manager will leverage NetSuite to transform the Accounts Payable function from a manual environment into a streamlined, automated future state, ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting policies. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implement internal controls over payable transactions to minimize risk.
  • Oversee the production of financial operations reports related to payables, ensuring that results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Drive efficiency and optimize processes by transforming the payables function into scalable, repeatable workflows. Leverage NetSuite to move from an “as is” manual process to a streamlined, systemic process.
  • Create, manage, monitor, and deliver key performance indicators (KPIs) related to Accounts Payable to leadership.
  • Build partnerships with key business units to ensure transparency and drive operational excellence in payables processing.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies by maintaining and improving systems, processes, and data accuracy.
  • Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior management by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting on payables and cash flow trends.
  • Collaborate closely with the FP&A team on cash flow forecasting and support the Accounting team during month-end and quarter-end close processes.
  • Recruit, select, onboard, and implement comprehensive training programs for the Accounts Payable team.
  • Effectively manage and mentor Accounts Payable staff, providing coaching and guidance to drive team performance and development.
  • Support the annual budgeting process by analyzing and consolidating payables data, making recommendations by comparing actual results with forecasts and budgets.
  • Work with external auditors, providing necessary information for the annual audit.
  • Provide feedback on vendor relationships to optimize payment terms and ensure accurate processing of invoices and payments.
  • Ensure compliance with international, federal, state, and local regulations by staying updated on existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence, and advising management on required actions.
  • Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field; or extensive experience in financial operations (Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable or Billing)
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in a hands-on financial operations management role.
  • Strong understanding of the procure-to-pay process and vendor management.
  • Proven experience using and maintaining financial systems/applications, preferably with NetSuite.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and communicate with senior leadership.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail, with a focus on delivering results and meeting deadlines.
